Connection Fittings are one of the most essential and core categories of power line hardware. They are specifically designed to connect and assemble various components of an overhead power line into a complete suspension or support system, primarily serving the function of mechanical load transfer, connection, and protection.

onnection fittings are used extensively in overhead transmission and distribution lines of all voltage classes, as well as in substations.

1. High Voltage (HV) & Extra/Ultra-High Voltage (EHV/UHV) Transmission Lines

This is the most critical application. Lines from 66kV up to 1100kV AC and ±800kV DC require massive quantities of high-strength, ultra-reliable connection fittings to build the long insulator strings and complex support systems.

2. Distribution Networks
Lower voltage lines (e.g., 11kV, 33kV) also use connection fittings (e.g., shackles, clevises, bolts), albeit in smaller sizes and lower strength ratings than those for transmission lines.

3. Substations & Power Plants

Used to connect and support busbars (e.g., strain bus systems), connect jumpers between equipment, and provide termination points for apparatus like circuit breakers and disconnect switches.

4. Railway Electrification (Catenary Systems)

The overhead contact system (OCS) for electric railways uses a wide array of specialized connection fittings to suspend the contact wire and messenger wire and maintain their precise geometric position.

5. Special Crossings

Major river crossings, valley spans, or other long-span applications place extreme demands on hardware, often requiring custom-designed, heavy-duty connection fittings.

6. Renewable Energy Farms

Both large-scale solar and wind farms use standard connection fittings in their collector systems and on the switchgear and structures within the project substation.
